The All-Polish Youth statement on the attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine

The All-Polish Youth stands for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, recognizing the violation of the borders existing in Europe and a Russian agression as contrary to the Polish national interest.

This in unofficial translation prepared by Narodowcy.net. Polish version of the statement is available here

Recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed republics in the Donbas, the entry of the Russian army into their territory, and then an armed attack on the Ukraine are a manifestation of the aggression of a great power against a country that is incomparably weaker and sharing a common border with Poland.

In the 20th century Poland has experienced the domination of great powers too often. The return to the policy of military aggression and the shifting of borders in our region in conditions of complete unpreparedness of the Polish state for such a turn of events poses a threat to its security. We believe that the existence of an independent Ukraine and Belarus is consistent with the Polish raison d’état, as it distances Russia from our eastern border. Russia is a power that has been able to conduct an aggressive policy towards its neighbors many times in recent decades, as the Polish nation has experienced very painfully. We consider any process leading in its consequences to increasing the dependence of Ukraine or Belarus on Moscow - as contrary to the national interests of Poland.

At the same time, we maintain that Russia is not only a military threat. Energy and political issues are other areas in which Russia’s activities lead to undermining the state’s sovereignty.

Therefore, we perceive the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in terms of defending the interests of one state against the imperial aspirations of the other. We strongly condemn the armed attack by the Russian Federation. The military escalation in Ukraine, same as the conflict on the Polish-Belarusian border caused by the transport of thousands of aggressive immigrants by the pro-Russian regime of Alexander Lukashenko, is another warning to our nation. War does not belong to the world of the past, and the sovereignty and the survival of a state depends primarily on its internal power and the armed force that it is able to mobilize. Obligations of foreign partners are significant, but cannot obscure this fact.

Facing the events taking place on the territory of our eastern neighbor, the priority task of the authorities of the Republic of Poland should become the militarization of the nation, modernization of the Polish army and further work on strengthening our borders. Only our own strength can keep us safe. Moreover, the diplomacy of the Polish state should strive to ensure the security of our compatriots living in the territory of the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine, who found themselves in the area of direct threat.

The armed attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine is also a test of the responsibility and solidarity of the Polish nation, therefore all current internal disputes should be immediately suspended. Everything points to the fact that demoliberal theories about the end of history and wars between nations, should be considered wrong. The coming years will require us to be strongly nationalist and pro-state citizens.
